KKF Advisor Participates in Professional Teachers’ Conference in the Caribbean

As part of its fourth pillar—Institutional Capacity Strengthening—the Kiiti Kamba Foundation seeks to tap lessons learned through partnerships across the globe.  In an effort to learn more about Special Education and the needs of young people with challenges, an amplified area of focus for the Foundation, KKF Advisor, Dr. Ndunge Kiiti, spent a week shadowing staff at the Ashley’s Learning Center in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.

The visit culminated with a two-day conference held on February 9-10, 2023, focused on Singapore’s approach to teaching Mathematics which has catapulted the country to the #1 ranking in math accomplishments globally.  The conference was co-sponsored by Ashley’s Learning Center and the Ministry of Education, Labour, Employment, and Customer Service in Providenciales with Dr. Yeap Ban Hur—Singapore’s Math Guru—serving as the keynote speaker and training facilitator.  “The conference was stimulating and an excellent networking opportunity for KKF to learn from other professionals in the African Diaspora.”  These were the words of Dr. Ndunge Kiiti when she was asked about her experience attending the Math Conference in the Turks and Caicos Islands.  She was also able to share about experiences from Kenya.
