KKF Engineering Alumnae Tapped for Incredible Internship at the Geothermal Development Company (GDC)

After completing her degree in Mechanical Engineering and graduating from University of Nairobi in September, 2023, Emmaculate Ndunge Mutiso was accepted for an internship at Geothermal Development Company (GDC), a Kenyan parastatal based in Baringo (West Pokot).  She is working in the Equipment Maintenance Department where she helps facilitate the daily inspection and preventive maintenance of machines (e.g. generators, compressors, mud pumps, top drive, draw works, hydraulic power unit–HPU), and various equipment at the rig.  Immaculate is extremely grateful for such a unique and beneficial opportunity.

Emmaculate joined the Kiiti Kamba Foundation in 2014, after completing her KCPE exams with a score of 390 marks. She hails from a humble background in Nguu-Kikumini, Makueni County.  She joined Machakos Girls High School and worked hard to score A- in her KCSE exam. Emmaculate was accepted to University of Nairobi in 2018 where she studied Bachelor of Science in Engineering for five years, with the continued support from KKF. She managed to finish with a second-class upper division and graduated in 2023.

Emmaculate is passionate about engineering and ready to mentor other young women in the field.  She is currently the leader of the KKF Networking Group for Engineering (Engineering – The Kiiti Kamba Foundation (kkf.or.ke)).
